Computer education in karaikal middle schools

The Pondicherry Government proposed to introduce computer education in middle schools and steps have been initiated to provide computers and other equipment to the middle schools as part of the scheme, the Education Minister, K.Lakshminarayanan has said. Speaking at a function here on Monday, he said apart from implementing breakfast and other free schemes, the Government has decided to introduce a free footwear scheme for school students from next academic year.

According to an official spokesperson, Mr.Lakshminarayanan, who also holds the Revenue portfolio, distributed house-site pattas to around 120 below poverty line people residing in Sethur and Thennalankudi Thiruvasal Thidal at the function. He also said that the MLAs could recommend issuance of pattas to 100 deserving persons in their respective constituencies. The government has taken a vow to issue pattas to all those who did not possess house-site pattas in their name, before the completion of the government's term in office.

The Social Welfare Minister, M.Chandrakasu and the Local Administration Minister, A.Ezhumalai spoke.

Earlier, Mr.Ezhumalai declared open a community hall constructed at a cost of Rs.5.50 lakhs at Ambedkar Nagar in Thirunallar Constituency.
